Thursday, March 28, PM. I couldn't connect either. Also, I had previously uninstalled McAfee, and that does not solve the problem. Also tried installing MVT without an internet connection and that did not work. In case the problem was a virus, I ran Hitman Pro , my go to cleaner. I forgot that it does not work offline, however it found the connectivity problem, a Winsock error, and fixed it. After a reboot, all is well.
