This is part of a series of games and I think it is a series that gets better and better as it progresses. It is also a bit of a franchise as it has an anime, some merch, and a ton of dedicated fans.

While I do think the later games are better, you really have to start with this first game here. What we have here is a visual novel and at first, it is like your standard romance kind of visual novel and there is nothing wrong with that.

Muv-Luv starts us with a charming dude called, Takeru who wakes up one day and finds that there is a cute girl in his bed called, Meiya. Meiya really likes him and wants her to himself. She freaks out as she wants him to. We then get this love triangle story with both girls trying to win him over.

There are different paths and endings so the story can go a few different ways. What I love about the story Muv-Luv tells is that it starts off as your typical rom-com, but it ends up being about an alien invasion! The visuals of the game are very anime-inspired and I love that. This is a game that took a little while to get released over here and I think it is one of the best-looking anime style visual novel games I have seen.

The characters all look cute and I like how there is a mixture of anime style and a bit of chibi here and there too. There are even these cool mechs too and cute animals in the story too. It is very well done. As Muv-Luv is a visual novel game most of what you are going to be doing is reading the story. If you enjoy visual novels this will not be a problem for you.
